
Lehigh to close out regular season with Rivalry match Tuesday at Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team is set to embark on a busy week, beginning Tuesday with a rivalry match at Lafayette and concluding this weekend with the Patriot League Tournament hosted by Bucknell.
Winners of two straight matches, the Mountain Hawks head to Easton Tuesday looking to end the regular season on a high note and build further momentum into the postseason. Lehigh also heads into the 4 p.m. match looking to continue its winning ways against the Leopards as the Mountain Hawks have won 17 straight in the series.
Lehigh (7-10, 2-4 Patriot League) is coming off a 2-0 week where the Mountain Hawks edged Bucknell 4-3 on Tuesday and then routed Saint Joseph's on senior day Thursday. Senior Grace Lin led the way, going 2-0 in singles, including the match-clinching point at No. 5 singles, while also going 2-0 at No. 3 doubles with junior Leigh Friedman. Freshman Elizabeth Nowak has continued her strong play with four straight singles wins at the No. 3 flight.
In doubles action, junior Sibel Can and sophomore Paula Gonzalez are 8-6 overall at the top flight and 3-1 against Patriot League opponents.
Lafayette enters Tuesday's rivalry match at 7-9 overall and 1-5 in the league. The Leopards host East Stroudsburg Monday before Lehigh's visit Tuesday. Lafayette beat La Salle 5-2 in its last action April 17. The Leopards' lone league win came against Holy Cross in late March.
Lehigh is 33-12 all-time against Lafayette in women's tennis and has won 17 straight.
Following Tuesday's match, Lehigh will shift focus to the Patriot League Tournament, beginning Thursday at Bucknell's Varsity Tennis Courts in Lewisburg, Pa. Seeds and the bracket for the Patriot League Tournament will be announced Tuesday, but the Mountain Hawks will likely avoid the first round and will play in a quarterfinal on Friday.
