
Mountain Hawks set for rivalry matchup at Lafayette Wednesday night

BETHLEHEM Pa. – Coming off an important 12-8 win over Holy Cross, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team is set to take on rival and league opponent Lafayette in Easton on Wednesday. Opening draw from Fisher Stadium is set for 7 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks are back within a single game of a Patriot League Tournament spot with three games to go as their quest for a sixth straight league tournament berth continues on Wednesday.
Lehigh is coming off an important win, which marked the team's first Patriot League victory of the season. Holy Cross started the game with a 2-0 lead, but Lehigh, led by junior Sondra Dickey, quickly rallied past the Crusaders who didn't see a lead again for the rest of the game. Dickey, who is second in the league in goals per game (3.23), scored five on Saturday along with an assist for six points, eclipsing 50 points this season and 150 points for her career.
Dickey was honored on Monday with Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors for the second time this season and sixth time in her career. She also had seven draw controls on Saturday. Along with Dickey's efforts, three seniors accounted for five goals on Senior Day. Kellie Gough posted a hat trick and two assists, while Courtney Henig and Mary Ellen Carron each added a goal and assist to mark the occasion.
Defensively, junior Alexandra Ladda had two groundballs, three caused turnovers and two draw controls while sophomore Samantha Sagi was strong in making eight saves, allowing just eight goals – the Crusaders' second lowest goal total in league play.
In Lafayette's last outing, it lost to No. 10 and league leader Loyola 21-9, bringing the Leopards record to 5-9, 1-5 in Patriot League play. Before Loyola, Lafayette lost a close 16-14 final to Army West Point. Lafayette does have one Patriot League win this season, against American, who is currently tied with Lehigh and Lafayette at 1-5, one game behind Holy Cross and Bucknell tied for sixth at 2-4.
Jane Kirby leads the Leopards in goals (37) and points (43) while Anna Stein leads the way with 19 assists, 13 more than anyone else on the team. Quinn Lacy leads Lafayette in groundballs (38) while Hannah Davey owns a team-leading 41 draw controls and Annelise Kinney has a team-leading 15 caused turnovers. Quinn Lacy has started all 14 games in goal, tallying a 12.78 goals against average and 0.462 save percentage.
After Wednesday's game, Lehigh will take the field again at Bucknell on Saturday at 1 p.m. in another important Patriot League contest.
