Curtin breaks her own school discus record highlight Lehigh effort in three meets

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh women's track and field team has finished competition at two of this weekend's meets, with one day left at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell on Sunday.

The Mountain Hawks sent three multiers to the Mondschein Multi at Kutztown University, where competition began Thursday and carried into Friday.

After the first day of heptathlon competition, freshman Bree Semtkowski sat in second place with a score of 2299. Freshman Hannah Figueroa was in fourth place with a score of 2235 and freshman Emily Dolan finished the day in eighth with a score of 1848.

On Friday, Figueroa jumped one spot to finish the event in third place, earning a final score of 3724, setting a new personal record. Smentkowski finished second overall with a score of 3870, also a personal record.

Competition for Lehigh continued on Friday and Saturday at the Coach Pollard Invitational, hosted by Moravian College.

Sophomore Brett Deweese finished third overall in the 100m hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.76. Freshman Madison Hackman finished fifth overall in the 100m dash, finishing with a time of 12.34, earning a personal record.

In the field events, sophomore Brittany Curtin led the Mountain Hawks with a first place finish in the discus with a mark of 49.25m and a second place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.27m. Her performance in the discus earned her a new personal record and broke the school record of 48.63m that she set last season.

Freshman Teasha McKoy finished third overall in the discus, earning a mark of 42.45m. Freshman Veronica Meyer also finished in the top ten in the discus, earning an eighth place finish with her mark of 37.15m.

In the shot put, McKoy finished ninth overall with a mark of 11.73m, which is a personal record for her. Freshman Jena Reinheimer finished 12th, earning a mark of 11.31m.

The Mountain Hawks have three multiers sitting in the top five after the first day of the heptathlon at the Bison Outdoor Classic. Sophomore Madison Harding is in first place in the in-progress standings with 2630 points. Sophomore Noa Levy is in fourth with 2175 and freshman Carly Carpino is in fifth with 1925 points after four events Saturday.

In the pole vault, sophomore Madisyn Hawkins finished in a three-way tie for seventh place, finishing with a mark of 3.57m.

Senior Tyler Bannister finished fifth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.66m. Figueroa finished in 10th with a mark of 1.61m after competing in the Mondschein Multis earlier in the weekend.

The weekend's competition concludes tomorrow with the final day of the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell.
