BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Continuing its slate of challenging contests to begin Patriot League play, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team returns home on Wednesday to host No. 13 Navy. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m. on the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a 13-6 defeat at No. 11 Loyola Saturday, a game which saw Lehigh outscore the Greyhounds 5-4 over the middle stages of the game to pull back within 10-6, but the Mountain Hawks couldn't get any closer. Lehigh stands 4-5 on the season, 0-2 in Patriot League play with seven more league contests still remaining.

On Saturday, Loyola jumped out to a 6-1 lead before Lehigh responded with five of the next seven goals. Junior Autumn Ryan scored three times in that stretch, good for her second straight hat trick and third this season. Senior Kellie Gough and junior Sondra Dickey scored back-to-back goals at 18:46 and 15:07 of the second half to pull the Mountain Hawks within four, but the Greyhounds scored the game's final three goals for the 13-6 final.

Loyola finished with a 17-4 edge in draw controls, which proved critical. Sophomore Samantha Sagi stood tall in goal, making 13 saves – her fourth straight game in double figures and sixth this season through nine contests. For the season, Sagi owns a 49.7 save percentage, good for 18th nationally.

Despite losing several key seniors to graduation, Navy continues to impress in 2019. The 2018 Patriot League Tournament Champions are currently 7-2 overall, 2-0 in league play, having won three straight games – including a 17-4 victory against Bucknell last time out. Navy's only losses have come to No. 16 Virginia (15-12) and No. 1 Boston College (18-5). Kelly Larkin leads the team in goals (31), assists (20) and points (51) while Kayla Harris has 26 points (19 goals, seven assists) and Annalise Heyward owns 25 (13 goals, 12 assists). Marie Valenti leads the Midshipmen in groundballs (26) and caused turnovers (15, tied) while Reagan Roelofs owns a team-leading 43 draw controls. In goal, Gab Harchelroad has tallied an 11.60 GAA and a 36.5 save percentage.

The Midshipmen have won 10 consecutive games against Lehigh to take a 12-4 lead in the all-time series. The Mountain Hawks won four of the first six meetings between the two sides, with the first meeting coming in 2008 - a 15-12 Lehigh win. Lehigh's most recent victory in the series came on Apr. 23, 2011 at Navy by a 15-13 final. Last time out, the Mids beat the Mountain Hawks in the 2018 Patriot League Semifinals.

Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh remains home on Saturday to host Army West Point at 6 p.m.
