BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After concluding a Spring Break trip that ended with a 5-4 record against Maryland Eastern Shore, Monmouth, James Madison, Lynchburg and VMI, Lehigh baseball is set to visit Fairleigh-Dickinson on Tuesday before hosting Penn on Wednesday at J. David Walker Field.

The Mountain Hawks take on the Knights in Teaneck, N.J. on Tuesday afternoon with a chance to get back in the win column after dropping Sunday's game to the Keydets, 11-1 after winning the previous two matchups.

Lehigh continues to be paced by senior left fielder Ryan Malloy, who despite going 0-for-4 and seeing his 12-game on-base streak snapped on Sunday, still leads the Mountain Hawks in most of the major offensive categories. He currently leads his teammates in batting average (.414), runs scored (14), hits (24), doubles (8), home runs (5), RBIs (16), total bases (49), slugging percentage (.845) and on-base percentage (.460). He also leads the Patriot League in average, home runs, total bases and slugging.

Junior shortstop Matt Hand has also been outstanding for the Mountain Hawks as of late, recording a base hit in each of his last six games. He is hitting .269 (14-for-52) on the year with five doubles, 10 runs scored and seven RBIs. He's also found some time on the mound in relief this season, with two appearances including the win on Saturday against VMI.

As a team, Lehigh is hitting .243 (129-for-530) and currently leads the Patriot League with 10 home runs.

Fairleigh Dickinson enters Tuesday with a 2-11-1 record, falling in its last 11 games after starting the year 2-0-1. The Knights are coming off four straight losses to Penn. The team is led offensively by Mike Veit with a .325 batting average and Nate Brodsky, who is batting .321 with a slugging percentage of .464 and leading the team with 18 hits. On the mound, FDU is led by Ryan Seburn, who has made three relief appearances with a 1.69 ERA. Starter Chris Quijano has a 5.59 ERA in four starts this season with 14 strikeouts.

All-time, the Mountain Hawks are 5-11 against Fairleigh-Dickinson, last playing on Feb. 24, 2017 where Lehigh got the 16-8 win at Walker Field.

On Wednesday, Lehigh returns to J. David Walker Field for the home opener against Penn at 3 p.m. The Quakers have started the 2019 season on a bit of a hot streak, coming into this week with a 9-4 record and are winners of their last six games. They most recently swept FDU in four games and beat Lafayette on Mar. 12, 19-3 in Easton. Most notably, Penn knocked off No. 22 Duke in both games Mar. 4-5 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, where the Mountain Hawks got this season started for the first three games.

The Quakers have seven players hitting over .300 on the year with Sean Phelan leading the way batting .407 (22-for-54) with seven doubles, two home runs and 13 RBIs. Josh Hood is second on the team with a .365 average (19-for-52). Craig Larsen, who is hitting .340 on the year, is Penn's home run leader with four so far in 2019.

Starting pitcher Christian Scafidi (2-0) is currently leading the Quakers with an ERA of 3.86 and has 14 strikeouts.

Penn and Lehigh has a storied history playing together with its first matchup in program history dating all the back to the 1885 season. The Quakers took the last matchup on Mar. 21, 2017 by a score of 6-4 in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks have not beaten Penn since Apr. 20, 2011.

Sophomore left-hander Cameron Van Hoorebeke (0-0, 7.88 ERA) is scheduled to get the starting nod on Tuesday against Fairleigh Dickinson, while freshman lefty Luke Rettig (0-1, 4.40 ERA) is the likely arm to throw on Wednesday in Bethlehem.
