BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Lehigh baseball team has its opponent for this weekend's series with an adjusted schedule. The Mountain Hawks will take on Mount St. Mary's on Saturday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 and 4 p.m. at Calvert Hall High School in Towson, Md.

Lehigh is coming off a tough series with Duke where they fell in all three games, but came away with a ton of positivity and high expectations heading into the rest of its schedule.

The Mountain Hawks got a giant boost last weekend from freshman catcher/designated hitter Casey Rother, who was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for going .500 (4-for-8) between Saturday and Sunday against the Blue Devils with a run scored and an RBI. Rother went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in Lehigh's 4-3 loss to Duke on Sunday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Aside from Rother, the Mountain Hawks' offense took off especially in the top of the order. Junior lead-off hitter Mike Maguire finished the weekend hitting .333 (4-for-12) with two doubles and six total bases. He also heads into the weekend with a .500 slugging percentage and .385 on-base percentage, while walking once and stealing one base.

Junior infielder Tony Gallo also has himself quite the streak going through his team's first three games of the season. He has gotten a hit in all three games and currently has a hitting streak of five straight dating back to last season. His on-base streak is also currently at 14 straight games. Gallo is hitting .273 (3-for-11) with three singles, a walk and a hit by pitch.

The Mountain Hawks totaled 14 hits between the three games with the only other knocks going to junior Matt Hand, senior Ryan Malloy and freshman Gerard Sweeney. Sweeney has also walked a team-high three times so far and has a stolen base in two attempts.

On the mound, Lehigh currently leads the Patriot League in team strikeouts with 33. The number is partly because of the strength of the pitching rotation and also because of the strength of the bullpen. This weekend, junior right-hander Levi Stoudt (0-1, 2.70 ERA) is scheduled to get the starting nod for Saturday's matchup with the Mountaineers. Stoudt struck out six batters in 3 1/3 innings of work on Friday in Lehigh's season opener at Duke. On Sunday, pitching Game 1 of the doubleheader will be junior righty Jason Reynolds (0-1, 18.00 ERA) while the Game 2 starter will be sophomore right-hander Matt Svanson (0-1, 8.31 ERA).

Reynolds had a strong start Saturday against Duke until the latter parts of his outing. He struck out the first four batters he faced and finished with seven strikeouts in three innings. He allowed six earned runs on seven hits with three walks. Svanson had similar success in the start of the game on Sunday in the finale, with a no-hitter through the first three innings, yet still earned the loss after allowing four earned runs on three hits.

The bullpen currently has a combined earned run average of 3.38. Sophomore Peter Woltersdorf threw 3 2/3 excellent innings of relief on Sunday, allowing no runs on two hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Sophomore Cameron Van Hoorebeke also had an outstanding outing on Saturday, allowing just one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts in three innings. Freshman Matt Stamford also found time on Friday to make a solid debut, allowing just one hit with a strikeout in one inning of relief.

The Mountain Hawks are looking for their first win of the 2019 campaign against The Mount, where they are tied 4-4 in the all-time series.
