
Mountain Hawks conclude Lehigh Invitational with solid play against Army West Point and Morgan State

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend hosting the Lehigh Invitational with singles and doubles wins during the two-day event.
Along with the Knights, Army West Point, Fairleigh Dickinson and Morgan State all competed in the past two days. Once again, the Mountain Hawks came out of this weekend with positives. The Brown and White won the majority of flights against Army West Point and Morgan State, while battling toe-to-toe with Fairleigh Dickinson in a close matchup.
Against Morgan State, the Mountain Hawks won all of their flights against the Bears. Lehigh won all of its single matches in straight sets, while also defeating MSU's doubles teams comfortably.
Against Army West Point, the Black Knights took the doubles point after winning three of the four flights. In singles, the Mountain Hawks showed their strength. In all, Lehigh notched six victories in singles play against the Black Knights. Three of Lehigh's wins in singles came in classic three-setters. Paula Gonzalez and Catherine Meighan picked up straight set wins in their matches.
Against Fairleigh Dickinson, both teams went back-and-forth as all matches were closely contested. In doubles, both teams split, winning two matches apiece. In singles, four of the eight matches went into three sets, but the Knights took six of the eight contests. Junmoke James and Anshika Singh too home straight set victories.
At the conclusion of the two-day event, Singh and James paced the Mountain Hawks with a 3-0 mark in singles play. Gonzalez, Sibel Can and Ella Imhof registered a 2-1 record. Meighan, Casey Zhong and Leigh Friedman each notched one win.
In doubles, the No. 1 pair continued to tally wins. Can and Gonzalez went 2-1 on the weekend, while the pair of Friedman and Meighan also picked up two wins.
Up next, the Mountain Hawks will have a week off before they embark for the ITA Regionals on Oct. 17.
