Thompson and Rider Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's swimming seniors Rachel Rider and Meghan Thompson earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-America honors from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

To be selected to the CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, swimmers and divers must have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

Rider capped off her career with a 3.56 GPA in her final semester to earn her fourth selection to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She met the NCAA B standard mark in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.86 to place third at the 2018 Patriot League Championships.

The senior accounting major finished her career with the school record in both the 100 and 200 backstroke and earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors in 2018.

Thompson closed out a decorated career with a 3.80 GPA in her final semester with the Brown and White to become a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honoree. She met the NCAA B standard mark in 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:47.54 at the 2018 Patriot League Championships.

The marketing major from Kinnelon, N.J. concluded her career as a two-time Patriot League Champion (1650 & 200 free) and a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection. Thompson also left her name all over the Lehigh record board with four individual school records, two individual Jacobs Pool records, three school relay records and one Jacobs Pool relay record.

The CSCAA selected a record 1,069 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team, with an additional 1,137 students named as Honorable Mentioned selections.

Lehigh is one of just four Patriot League institutions to place at least one swimmer or diver on the first team or honorable mention lists.
