Lehigh Women Blank Bucknell, 4-0, in Patriot League Quarterfinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Mountain Hawks are moving on to the semifinal round of the Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship following a 4-0 victory over fifth-seeded Bucknell on Friday inside Army's Lichtenberg Tennis Center. Lehigh will face top-seeded Navy tomorrow morning the semifinals.

Lehigh has advanced to the Patriot League Championship Semifinals in back-to-back seasons and three times in four seasons. The Mountain Hawks improve to 11-9 on the season, their most wins since 2015, while Bucknell wraps up the season at 14-8.

Lehigh jumped out to an early lead after clinching the doubles point with convincing victories at the second and third flights. Paula Gonzalez and Sibel Can defeated Cayla Koch and Emily Bush for a second time this season at the second flight with 6-1 victory. Grace Lin and Briana Maravich also completed a season sweep at the third flight over Mishi Papich and Sofia Ayuso with a 6-2 victory.

Maravich picked up her second victory of the day and the first singles win of the match for Lehigh with a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory over Rachel Carroll at the sixth flight. The senior improves to 12-8 on the season and has now achieved 12 or more victories three times in her career.

Making her postseason debut, freshman Paula Gonzalez moved Lehigh one step closer to clinching the match with a victory over Paige Leavy at the second flight for the second time this season. Gonzalez improves to 11-9 in her stellar rookie campaign.

Senior Christina Auyeung sent Lehigh into the semifinals with her match-clinching victory over Lisa Jouravleva at the top flight. Auyeung has now defeated Jouravleva twice this season as she improves to 12-8 overall, tying her season win total form last season.

Lehigh will to look avenge a 6-1 loss to Navy earlier this season as the two squads meet again on Saturday at 10 a.m.
