Lehigh Edged by Navy, 4-3, in Patriot League Semifinals

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh's season came to a heartbreaking end in the Patriot League Championship Semifinals as Navy edged out a 4-3 win in a tiebreaker at the fifth set. Lehigh finishes the season at 11-10, while Navy improves to 27-5 and advances to Patriot League Championship match for the sixth time in program history.
After losing the doubles point and surrendering the first two singles victories to Navy, Lehigh clawed its way back by winning the next three singles matches. The dual boiled down to a tiebreaker at the fifth singles flight with the score tied, 6-6, in the third set between Navy senior Carlee Conway and Lehigh freshman Casey Zhong. Conway eventually pulled away to a 7-4 victory in the tiebreaker to complete the three-set victory over Zhong and clinch the victory for Navy.
Paula Gonzalez started the LU comeback bid with her two-set victory over Emily Louie-Meadors to avenge a loss from the regular season. Gonzalez caps her rookie campaign with a 12-9 record to finish tied for second on the team in wins.
Christina Auyeung finished her stellar career with the Brown and White in victorious fashion as she too avenged her regular season loss with a two-set victory over Amanda Keller at the first flight. The senior ends the season 13-8 to lead the team in wins. She ends her career with a record of 50-23.
Sibel Can knotted the team score at 3-3 with her three-set victory over Josie Rogers at the third flight. The sophomore ends her season with a record of 11-8 and is a 23-15 for her career.
