Leads Travels to Bucknell for Three-Game Patriot League Set

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks travel to Bucknell this weekend for a three-game Patriot League set which opens a five-game season series with the Bison. The two teams open play with a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a single game starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Games one and three will be streamed live for free on the Patriot League Network.
Lehigh (14-21, 4-10 PL) is coming off a 5-2 victory over rival Lafayette at home on Wednesday which clinched the season series for the Mountain Hawks for the fifth-straight season. Bucknell (12-22, 9-8 PL) suffered a 6-4 loss at Navy on Wednesday to complete the season series with the Midshipmen.
The Mountain Hawks enter the weekend in fifth place in the Patriot League standings and the Bison sit in third place. Lehigh has 11 league games remaining, including five against Bucknell, while the Bison have seven league games remaining, including a trip to Bethlehem next Sunday to wrap up the regular season with a doubleheader against Lehigh.
Lehigh will face arguably the best starting pitching tandems in the Patriot League this season on Saturday in Patriot League Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Connor Van Hoose, and his teammate, Jeff Gottesman. Last weekend in a doubleheader sweep at Holy Cross, Van Hoose and Gottesman combined for 23 strikeouts, one run and just four hits in 15.0 innings. Bucknell has swept its last three Saturday doubleheaders behind the arms of its two stud right-handers.
Van Hoose and Gottesman have dominated Patriot League opponents as they have combined for just 10 earned runs in 66.1 innings pitched while combing for 84 strikeouts. Van Hoose sports a record of 4-1 against in league play with a league-leading 0.55 ERA. Gottesman is 3-2 against league opponents with a 2.16 ERA.
After going head-to-head against with one of the league's other top arms in game one last Saturday at Navy, Levi Stoudt will once again be matched up against a fellow All-League arm in game one on Saturday. Stoudt kept Lehigh in the game last Saturday as he allowed just one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk in 6.2 innings of work.
In addition to Stoudt, Jason Reynolds and Peter Moore also provided quality starts last weekend. All three arms tossed at least five innings and combined for just four earned runs on a total of just 14 this.
Lehigh boasts the best offensive threat out of the two teams this weekend in senior Chris Kersey. The lead-off man has reached base in six-straight games and has recorded a hit in his last three-straight. Kersey ranks second in the Patriot League in batting average (.354) and also ranks in the top-four in slugging percentage (.488) and on-base percentage (.439), while leading the league in doubles.
