Lehigh Women Open Postseason Play Friday Against Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks team open postseason play Friday at 11 a.m. against Bucknell in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship hosted by Army West Point.

Lehigh (10-9, 4-3 PL) enters the postseason as the fourth seed and the Bison (14-7, 3-2) have garnered the fifth seed. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Bucknell, 4-1, last week in the regular season showdown.

Three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection Christina Auyeung leads Lehigh at the No. 1 singles flight. She enters the postseason with an overall record of 11-8 and a mark of 3-4 in league play. Auyeung will face Lisa Jouravleva from Bucknell who she defeated in three sets in the regular season matchup.

Freshman Paula Gonzalez will compete at No. 2 singles for Lehigh as she enters the postseason with a 10-9 overall record, including a mark of 4-3 against league opponents. Gonzalez will face Paige Leavy in a rematch from the regular season in which Gonzalez won, 6-4, 6-4.

2017 Patriot League Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year, Sibel Can, will be competing at the the No. 3 singles flight. Can owns an overall record of 10-8 with record of 4-2 in league play. The Lehigh sophomore will once again face Mishi Papich, who was leading Can, 4-2, in the third set before their match was suspended in the regular season meeting.

Junior Grace Lin will represent Lehigh at the No. 4 singles flight as she carries an overall record of 8-8 into the postseason. Lin will have a rematch with Cayla Koch from Bucknell. Each player won a set in the previous meeting before the match was suspended.

Senior Briana Maravich owns an overall record of 11-8 with a mark of 5-2 in league play and will compete at the No. 5 singles spot in the postseason. Maravich will square off against Sofia Ayuso on Friday. The two did not meet in the regular season.

Freshman Casey Zhong earned a spot in the postseason lineup as she will be competing at the No. 6 singles flight. Zhong will face Rachel Carroll, who did not compete in the regular season dual, on Friday.

Auyeung and Zhong will assume their place at the No. 1 doubles flight for Lehigh and will once again face Jouravleva and Leavy. Auyeung and Zhong trailed the Bucknell duo, 5-4, before the match was suspended.

Gonzalez and Can will represent Lehigh at the No. 2 doubles flight and will again face Koch and Emilie Bush. Gonzalez and Can scored a 6-3 victory in the regular season meeting.

Lin and Maravich will have a rematch with Papich and Ayuso at the No. 3 doubles flight. Lin and Maravich picked up a 6-4 victory in the previous meeting.

If the Mountain Hawks should win Friday's quarterfinal match, they will face the winner of the No. 1 Navy-No. 8 Colgate/No. 9 Holy Cross match in a semifinal round match on Saturday at 10 a.m.
