BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh concluded its season series with rival Lafayette with a 5-2 series-clinching victory on Wednesday at Walker Field. The Mountain Hawks have now won the season series five years in a row and have not lost a series to Lafayette since 2009. Lehigh is now 17-4 against the Leopards in the last five seasons.
Both pitching staffs held the opposition in check for the most part as the two teams combined for just 11 total hits and seven total runs on the day. However, Lafayette (13-25, 2-12 PL) handed out 14 free passes between three hit batters and 11 walks, including a pair of bases-loaded walks on two separate occasions.
Peter Woltersdorf picked the win for Lehigh (14-21, 4-10 PL) as he tossed 3.1 innings in relief after entering in the third. The freshman paces the staff in wins as he improves to 4-0 on the season. Ethan Frohman surrendered just one hit in 2.0 scoreless innings to clinch his career-best fifth save of the season.
Matt Kozemchak gave Lehigh another strong start as he tossed 2.0 scoreless innings as he allowed just two hits with no walks. The senior lefty has yet to allow a run in three starts this season. Matt Hand also saw action out of the pen as he tossed 1.2 scoreless innings without allowing a hit.
