Lehigh Concludes Competition at Coach P. Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team wrapped up the second and final day of competition on Saturday at the Coach P. Invitational across town at Moravian. Sophomore vaulter Joey Kelly took home a third place finish to help lead Lehigh at the unscored meet.
Kelly landed on the podium in third place of the pole vault, followed by Max Jordan in fourth. Both cleared 4.41 meters, with Kelly taking third based on misses.
A pair of freshman led Lehigh in the discus with Anastasios Mouzakis (40.67m) finishing 15th overall and Riley LaRiviere was credited with a 16th place throw after setting a personal best of 40.34m. Two more Mountain Hawks finished back-to-back in the top half of the event with Alexander Rodgers (38.93m) in 21st place and Adam Freesman (38.85m) falling three centimeters shy of his PR in 22nd. Jarrett Taneyhill served as the Brown and White's lone representative in the javelin, where he took 22nd overall at 47.90m.
Senior James Chappell (1:57.85) and David Fletcher (1:58.62) led Lehigh in 16th and 19th places, respectively in the 800m.
In the 1500m, Eric Kersten surpassed the IC4A qualifying time with his eighth place performance and new PR of 4:04.34. Mitchell Daddario (4:10.09) took 13th place and Ryan Paradise (4:13.64) finished 17th overall.
On Friday's first day of competition, Freesman (44.20m) led Lehigh in the hammer throw in 14th place, with Mouzakis (44.14m) following right behind in 15th and LaRiviere (43.49m) in 17th. Rodgers tallied an eighth place showing in the shot put, turning out a 13.87-meter score on his fourth throw.
Lehigh had a large contingent of athletes open up competition on Saturday in the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell. The meet will run late into Saturday evening and throughout the day on Sunday. Check back to Lehighsports.com for a full recap following the conclusion Sunday's action from Bucknell.
