BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After two tournaments in New York State, the Lehigh men's golf team heads to New England for its third fall tournament. The Mountain Hawks will play in the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, running Sunday through Tuesday at GreatHorse in Hampden, Mass.
Thirteen teams will compete in UConn's Invitational, which in previous years was contested as the Connecticut Cup in Ellington, Conn.
Lehigh has finished sixth in each of its first two fall tournaments, most recently the 16-team Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, which wrapped up Monday in Apalachin, N.Y. Junior Owen Quinn led the Mountain Hawks, tying for fifth place at three under par 141. Classmate Ryan Kelly led Lehigh in its first fall event, Colgate's Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational in early September.
Last year Lehigh competed at UConn's Connecticut Cup, finishing sixth in a 15-team field, led by Quinn, who tied for ninth. Kelly and senior Lee Hammerschmidt also competed at last year's event.
Following the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, Lehigh will battle Lafayette in the annual Presidents Cup matches at Hamilton Farms Golf Club in New Jersey on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The Mountain Hawks will close out the fall season when they host the Lehigh Invitational, Oct. 19-20 on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club.
