BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team extended its sweep streak to three matches with another 7-0 victory on Wednesday and is the first three-match sweep streak since 2006. The Mountain Hawks defeated Bucknell at the Ulrich Courts for their third-straight 7-0 victory over a Patriot League opponent this season. LU returned the favor after getting swept by the Bison in last season's regular season meeting.
The win for Lehigh snaps a two-match skid against Bucknell and matches the longest win streak of the season. The Mountain Hawks are now 7-6 overall and 3-1 in the Patriot League. The Bison fall to 9-7 and 1-3 in the league.
The Mountain Hawks made rather quick work of the doubles competition, including a dominating 6-1 victory at the top flight by Christina Auyeung and Jamie Campisi. All three of the Lehigh doubles pairings improve to 3-1 in league play with wins on Wednesday.
Auyeung carried the momentum from doubles into singles play as she rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the top flight for the first singles victory of the match. Lehigh's No. 1 is now 9-4 overall and 3-1 in league play.
Campisi also rolled to a singles victory at the fifth flight, scoring a 6-1, 6-3 win over Mishi Papich. The senior captain improves her record to 8-5 overall with a league record of 3-1.
Grace Lin ensured Lehigh's third-straight team win with her 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 victory at the third flight. Lin improves to 4-8 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Kirstin Godau moved Lehigh one step closer to a sweep as she battled back in her second set to win the match 6-2, 7-6(2) at the sixth flight. Godau has been very productive in limited work this season as she improves to 2-0 on the season in two league matches.
Sibel Can scored a comeback victory in three sets to keep her unblemished league record in tact with a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Lauren Fishbein at the second flight. Can remains tied with Auyeung for the top overall record on the team at 9-4, but owns a perfect 4-0 mark against Patriot League opponents.
Senior captain Cassidy Cruz also prevailed in a comeback, three-set victory at the fourth flight to secure the sweep for her team. Cruz scored a 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 win to improve her record to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in league play.
