Lehigh Advances to Patriot League Semifinals on 4-0 Victory Over Colgate

RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 4 Mountain Hawks posted a 4-0 victory over No. 5 Colgate in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament on Friday at the Ulrich Courts. Lehigh will face No. 1 Army West Point in the semifinal round on Saturday at home at the Ulrich Courts.
After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in efficient fashion, the Mountain Hawks (10-8) found themselves in dogfights in the remaining four singles spots. Cassidy Cruz ultimately prevailed at No. 5 singles to clinch the match and send Lehigh into the next round. The senior battled to a 7-6(7) victory in the first set before grinding to a 6-4 win in the second set for the clinch.
Jamie Campisi tallied the first singles win of the day as she made quick work against Kaelin Brittin at the No. 6 singles spot. The senior cruised to a 6-0 victory in the first set, followed by a 6-1 win in the second set. Campisi improves to 12-5 on the season.
Sibel Can also cruised to a victory at the second flight. The freshman picked up a win in her first postseason collegiate contest with a score of 6-1, 6-1 over Lauren O'Brien. Can improves her record to 12-6 on the season.
Lehigh took the early lead by winning the doubles competition. Can and Cruz started things off with a 6-3 victory at the second flight. The pairing of Christina Auyeung and Campisi clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win at the top flight.Â
Army advanced to the semifinals after cruising to a 4-0 victory over No. 8 Lafayette. The Black Knights and Mountain Hawks will square off at 10 a.m. on the Ulrich Courts.
