Mountain Hawk Women Earn 5-2 Victory Over Villanova

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks got back in the win column in their first match out of spring break with Wednesday's 5-2 victory over Villanova at home. Lehigh is now 4-5 on the season, while the Wildcats continue their slide and fall to 0-13
Cassidy Cruz and Grace Lin locked up the doubles point for Lehigh with their 6-4 win at the third flight. The freshman pairing of Sibel Can and Leigh Friedman contributed a 6-2 win at the No. 2 flight. Cruz and Lin have now won two-straight to improve their record to 3-6, while Can and Friedman improve to 4-5.
Can picked up another win for Lehigh and the first singles victory of the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 2 flight. Can improves to 5-4 on the season with all matches at the second flight.
The Mountain Hawks suffered back-to-back setbacks at the third and fourth singles flights as Villanova tied the overall team score at 2-2.
Auyeung put Lehigh back in the lead with her three-set victory at the No. 1 singles flight. The junior has now won two-straight matches and improves to 6-3 on the season.
Lehigh secured the victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at sixth singles by Campisi. For the third time in her career, Campisi has clinched the team victory over Villanova as Lehigh is 3-1 against the Wildcats in the last four seasons. The senior is now 5-4 this season.
Cruz closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. She is now 4-5 on the season with all matches at the fifth flight.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Saturday as they open up Patriot League play with a home match against Navy at 10 a.m.
