Lehigh Falls in Final Match of Spring Break Trip

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Mountain Hawks ended their spring break trip to California with a 7-2 loss to No. 5 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Division III) on Wednesday night. Lehigh is now 3-4 on the season after losing three-straight and the Athenas remain undefeated at 9-0, including a record of 6-0 at home.
The Athenas began the dual by taking two out of three flights in the doubles competition, including an 8-4 win at No. 2 by 25th-ranked Katie Kuosman and Kyla Scott over Lehigh's freshman pairing of Sibel Can and Leigh Friedman. Lehigh prevented a doubles sweep as Cassidy Cruz and Grace scored an 8-4 victory at No. over Catherine Allen and Madison Shea to improve to 3-4 on the season.
CMS found continued success as the singles competition commenced, but not before Auyeung knocked off 23rd-ranked Scott at the first flight, 6-7(4), 6-1(10-3). Lehigh's No. 1 is now 5-2 on the season.
The Athenas claimed victories at the remaining five singles spots, including wins by their remaining ranked competitors. 14th-ranked Catherine Allen edged out Lin, 6-3, 6-4, at the third flight and 45th-ranked Kuosman defeated Cruz by a score of 6-2, 6-3 at the fifth spot.
The Mountain Hawks will return east and gear up for the Patriot League portion of the schedule as they open league play on Sunday at Loyola.
