PATRIOT LEAGUE RELEASE
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season, Lehigh junior forward Mark Forrest has been named the Patriot League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week as the league announced its award winners on Monday. Forrest led the Brown and White with two goals and five total points last week which included games against No. 10 Virginia and rival Lafayette.
Â
The Mountain Hawks began the week with a trip to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the tenth-ranked Cavaliers last Tuesday night. Lehigh put Virginia on its heels early as Forrest netted a penalty kick in the 38th for the game's first tally. Later on, Forrest helped put LU back in the lead as he recorded the primary assist on a Bratislav Petkovic goal in the 67th minute to put Lehigh ahead 2-1.
Â
Lehigh capped off the week with a Saturday night showdown at home with archrival Lafayette. After a scoreless first half, the LU offense came knocking on the door early and often in the second half. LU finally found pay dirt as Doyle Tuvesson connected on a cross with Forrest on the back post for the first tally of the game and the eventual game-winner.
Â
Forrest is 2-for-2 this season on penalty kicks to lead the team and ranks first in the Patriot League with three game-winning goals. He leads the league in goals (10) and points (25), while owning the fifth-most goals and fourth-most points in the nation this season. The junior now has double-digit goals for the second time in his career and needs one more to tie his career-high set during his freshman season.
Â
Lehigh will close out its non-league slate Tuesday with a trip to Drexel (2-9-1). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Vidas Field.
