Fennell Named Patriot League Female Diver of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a record-setting performance in her collegiate debut, Lehigh freshman Megan Fennell was tabbed the Patriot League Female Diver of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Fennell swept the one-meter and three-meter events in her first collegiate competition and out-performed All-Patriot League performer Lizzie Tillo from Boston U in the process. The Washington, D.C. native set school and freshman records in the one-meter dive and helped lead the Lehigh women to its first-ever win over league foe Boston U.

She opened the day by winning the one-meter dive with a score of 264.90, surpassing the school record of 256.87 set in 1992 and the freshman record of 229.90 established in 1989. Fennell then went on to win the three-meter dive with a score of 261.22, just 3.13 points shy of the program's freshman record. Fennell posted a 28.42 margin of victory in the one-meter dive and a 20.47 margin of victory in the three-meter dive, beating out Tillo in both events.

Fennell is only the second Lehigh female diver to earn at Patriot League weekly honor, joining Laura Gray from the 2005-06 season. This is also the first swimming or diving weekly honor for the program since Courtney Patterson was named the Female Swimmer of the Week towards the end of the 2014-15 season.
