HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team took a 7-4 lead early in the second half, but Colgate responded with six of the game's final seven goals to down the Mountain Hawks, 10-8 on Saturday afternoon. Lehigh's offense was led by freshman Courtney Henig, who tied a career high with four goals and five points. With the loss, the Mountain Hawks fall to 11-4 and 5-3 in the Patriot League while Colgate improves to 7-8 and 5-3 in the league.
"We did not compete well in the second half," said Lehigh head coach Jill Redfern. "Credit Colgate, because they did."
Along with Henig's five points, junior Julianne D'Orazio scored twice while junior Lauren Beausoleil and senior Kendall Garden scored Lehigh's other goals.
Sophomore Kierstyn Voiro tallied three groundballs and two caused turnovers to lead the defense while D'Orazio added two draw controls, two caused turnovers and a groundball. Sophomore Kayleen Kelly recorded a game-high five draw controls.
The Raiders scored first, but the Mountain Hawks answered with the next four goals. Henig added her fourth goal less than four minutes into the second half, but the Raiders reeled off the next four goals to take an 8-7 lead with 19:53 on the clock. D'Orazio's second goal of the game evened the score at eight less than three minutes later, but that proved to be the Mountain Hawks' last goal. Peebles scored her fifth goal of the game at the 11:20 mark, and Colgate added another with 5:13 remaining, to account for the 10-8 final.
