BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team will hit the road for a three-game set at Marshall this weekend. A 1 p.m. single game will be played Saturday and a 10 a.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Sunday.

The 3-0 Mountain Hawks will return to the diamond for the first time since their season-opening series at Norfolk State. Lehigh was scheduled to take on Coppin State Wednesday, but unplayable field conditions forced the cancellation of the game. The defending Patriot League champions earned 10-3 and 7-2 wins over Norfolk State in a doubleheader Feb. 21 before battling for a 7-6 come-from-behind victory the following day to complete the series sweep. Junior Patrick Donnelly led Lehigh offensively at Norfolk State with a 7-for-14 showing at the plate and five RBI. Classmate Jacen Nalesnik scored a team-best five runs while hitting .455 (5-for-11) over the three games. Sophomore relief pitchers Peter Moore, Mark Washington and Sam Ashey all earned wins on the mound against the Spartans.

Senior Kevin Long is slated to start game one against Marshall. Long threw five innings against Norfolk State while surrendering just two runs in the Mountain Hawks season opener. Classmate Kevin Boswick will take the mound for game two after allowing two runs and striking out four in 3.2 innings against the Spartans. Junior lefty Matt Kozemchak will handle game three against the Herd.

Marshall carries a 1-5 record into this weekend's series. The Herd won the finale of a three-game season-opening set at Florida A&M before dropping contests to Liberty and Coastal Carolina last weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Marshall has been outscored 63-33 so far this season and is hitting .258 as a team. Tommy Lane leads the Herd offensively with a .370 batting average and seven RBI. Corey Bird follows with a .292 batting average, five runs scored and four RBI. Relief pitcher Sam Hunter earned Marshall's lone win on the mound in the team's extra-inning 11-9 win over Florida A&M.

The Herd will hand the ball to Chase Boster for game one. Boster has surrendered 11 runs in 7.2 frames this season. JD Hammer will start game two after giving up 14 runs and striking out nine in 8.1 innings. Lefty Parker Danciu gets the game-three start. Danciu has hurled 7.2 innings through two starts, surrendering 12 runs on 16 hits.

Lehigh and Marshall will be meeting for the first time in program history and the Mountain Hawks will be looking to capture their first-ever win against a current member of Conference USA.

Following this weekend's series, Lehigh will head to Villanova for a midweek matchup Wednesday before taking on Fairleigh Dickinson in a four-game series next weekend. The Sunday March 13 doubleheader against FDU will serve as Lehigh's home opener at Legacy Park.
