He is an incredible coach and is always looking to improve the team in every aspect on and off the field. He is extremely knowledgeable about baseball and genuinely cares about everyone on the team.

2017 (JUNIOR SEASON)
Made nine appearances, including two starts with a record of 2-2…ended the season with wins in his final two appearances…tossed the final 2.2 innings and surrendered just one run to earn the win in a 7-5 victory over Iona (4/18)…surrendered just one hit and struck out two batters to earn his second win of the season by tossing 1.2 innings in relief against Maryland Eastern Shore (4/26)…compiled a career-high tying six strikeouts through 5.1 innings in a tough-luck, one-run loss to La Salle (3/29).
 
2016 (SOPHOMORE SEASON)
Made 12 appearances and seven starts…threw 4.1 hitless innings of relief with six strikeouts to earn the win in his first action of the season against Norfolk State (2/22)…picked up his first Patriot League win in game two at Bucknell (4/2) after hurling 7.0 one-run frames…surrendered just one earned run in five innings to record a win against Lafayette (4/24) and help Lehigh to a four-game sweep of the Leopards...named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

2015 (FRESHMAN SEASON)
Saw no action due to NCAA transfer rules…named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

BEFORE LEHIGH
Transfer from Air Force…rated as the No. 154 left-handed pitching prospect in the nation by Perfect Game, Sam Ashey will come to Lehigh from Katy, Texas and Cinco Ranch High School where he was the runner-up for All-District MVP and a two-time All-District selection. The southpaw holds a school record with his 2.20 career ERA and also holds the mark to beat in strikeouts in one game (14). Ashey was his team’s captain and MVP during his senior season and posted a 10-1 record on the mound during his junior season. Strong in the classroom as well, Ashey was named to the Texas Academic All-State team, was a member of National Honor Society and was also a member of the marching band/drumline for all four years of high school.
