BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a successful road stint which featured two wins in four days, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team returns home on Saturday to host Holy Cross in the Patriot League opener for both sides. Opening draw at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks have won five straight games overall, most recently defeating Davidson on Tuesday.

Lehigh's five-game winning streak marks its longest since Mar. 19 through Apr. 6 of 2011. At 5-1, the Mountain Hawks are off to their best start since 2010 when they began the season 8-0. Lehigh began its spring break road trip by dominating Liberty 16-5 last Saturday before beating the Wildcats in a nip and tuck game Tuesday, 7-5. Freshman Courtney Henig continued her impressive play with a team-leading three goals, her third straight hat trick as she is now second on the Mountain Hawks in goals (14) and points (15).

Sophomore Haley Wentzel scored twice against the Wildcats while junior Allison LaBeau had one goal and two assists. Sophomore Kierstyn Voiro led Lehigh in both groundballs (4) and draw controls (2).

The Lehigh defense continued to impress, allowing just five goals for a second straight game. The Mountain Hawks have allowed five or fewer goals in three games this season and seven or fewer in four contests. Lehigh even allowed just 13 goals to No. 6 Penn State, tied for the Nittany Lions' third lowest total in their first eight games this season. For the season, the Mountain Hawks have allowed just 7.33 goals per game, tops in the league and 12th in the nation.

Holy Cross is 0-7 on the season, which includes multiple tight losses. The Crusaders have dropped 8-7 finals to Bryant and at Davidson while most recently dropping a 14-3 final at Elon. Kaitlin Concilio leads Holy Cross with 13 points behind seven goals and six assists. Tess MacKay owns eight points behind a team-leading eight goals while Keely Connors has scored seven goals. Casey Drollinger and Maddy Smith are tied for the team lead with 10 caused turnovers, Anna Johnson owns a team-leading 14 groundballs and is first in draw controls (8). Julia Maloney has started all seven games in goal, tallying a 13.72 GAA and .400 save percentage.

Lehigh snapped a three-game losing streak against the Crusaders last season by winning its regular season finale up at Holy Cross, 11-8. Four different Mountain Hawks scored two goals apiece, led by a game-high three points from Voiro.

Following Saturday's game, Lehigh remains home to host another Patriot League foe, American, next Saturday, Mar. 26 at 12 p.m.
