Mountain Hawks lock up first victory with 7-0 win over Saint Francis (Pa.)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team was able to pick up its first win of the season with a dominant 7-0 sweep of Saint Francis (Pa.) Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks improve to 1-2 with the victory, while the Red Flash falls to 1-5.
"It felt great to get our first win," said head coach Wouter Hendrix. "Our women were locked in from the beginning and played relaxed and aggressive. I wish the injured player on Saint Francis a speedy recovery. We face another big test on Friday against Stony Brook."
The Mountain Hawks earned the doubles point after sweeping the three doubles matches. Freshman Grace Lin and sophomore Kirstin Godau were victorious by default at No. 3 doubles. Sophomore Christina Auyeung and junior Jamie Campisi took the top flight from Saint Francis 6-2 before junior Cassidy Cruz and sophomore Briana Maravich earned a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Godau won by default at No. 6 singles to put Lehigh up 2-0. Cruz earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Brittini Jentz at the third flight before Maravich clinched the match at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Stephanie Miller.
Lin moved to 3-0 in singles play this season with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Raksha Bode at the second flight. Auyeung followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Rafaela Panizza at the top flight before Campisi secured the 7-0 sweep with an 8-4 decision over Dani Grykiewicz.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday when Lehigh hosts Stony Brook at 12 p.m.
