Mountain Hawks drop 6-1 match to Stony Brook

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team fell to a tough Stony Brook team 6-1 Friday afternoon inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks drop to 1-3 on the season with the loss, while Stony Brook improves to 1-1.
Sophomore Briana Maravich earned Lehigh's lone point with a win at No. 4 singles for the Mountain Hawks. Three of the six singles matches went to a third set in a tough battle between the two teams.
The Seawolves earned the doubles point despite freshman Grace Lin and sophomore Kirstin Godau earning a 6-4 win at the third flight.
Maravich put Lehigh on the board with with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Stony Brook's Anne-Kathrin Hierl as the Mountain Hawks tied the match at 1-1. Junior Cassidy Cruz fell in a three-set match at No. 3 singles before Stony Brook took down sophomore Christina Auyeung at the top flight and Lin at No. 2 singles to clinch the match. The Seawolves wrapped up the 6-1 win with wins at No. 5 a No. 6 singles.
Lehigh looks to bounce back next weekend when the Mountain Hawks host Mount St. Mary's Sunday, Feb. 21 at 10 a.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
