
Lehigh hosts Villanova in midweek match Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team continues its season-opening homestand Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Villanova at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewis Tennis Center.
The Mountain Hawks, who are 2-3 this season, are coming off a strong 7-0 win over Mount St. Mary's Sunday in Lehigh's most recent action. Lehigh won every doubles and singles match to secure the victory. The Mountain Hawks' other win this season came on Feb. 7 with a 7-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.).
Sophomore Briana Maravich has led Lehigh in singles play so far this season with a 4-1 record, while freshman Grace Lin is 3-1 in singles action. Sophomore Christina Auyeung is 2-2 at the top flight of singles. Sophomore Kirstin Godau has four doubles victories under her belt, while Lin has gone 3-1 in doubles action.
Villanova carries a 1-2 record into Wednesday's match and is coming off its first win of the season last Friday with a 4-3 victory over Drexel. The Wildcats swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point before claiming victories at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles en route to the 4-3 victory. Prior to the win, Villanova had fallen 7-0 against Cincinnati and 6-1 at Navy.
The Mountain Hawks earned a 5-2 win over Villanova in the most recent meeting between the two teams on March 21, 2015 inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Wildcats swept the doubles matches, but Auyeung, Maravich and current juniors Cassidy Cruz and Jamie Campisi won their singles matches to help Lehigh to the 5-2 victory.
Following Wednesday's match, Lehigh will remain home to host Kutztown Sunday at 11 a.m.
