
Lehigh Heads to Mount St. Mary's for Tuesday Afternoon Clash

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -Â Lehigh will hit the road for just the second time so far this season on Tuesday afternoon as the team travels to Mount St. Mary's for an afternoon tilt. Lehigh is 1-1 in day games so far this season, having beaten Delaware State at home and losing to Duquesne on the road.

Lehigh is coming off a 2-0 week where they topped Delaware State 91-80 last Wednesday, and beat Sacred Heart on Saturday night at Stabler Arena. Lehigh had four players score in double figures against Delaware State, led by junior Quinci Mann with 21 points and freshman Gena Grundhoffer who scored 17. Sophomore Hailey Pascoe scored a career-best 14 points while draining a trio of three-pointers, and freshman Cameryn Benz reached double figures for the first time in her career with 11 points.

Grundhoffer led Lehigh over Sacred Heart with her first career-double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds and was named both the Patriot League Rookie of the Week and the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Patriot League. She is the first Lehigh player to record a double-double this season and the first to earn a weekly honor.

ALL-TIME VS. MOUNT ST. MARY'S
The Mountain Hawks and Mountaineers will meet up for the ninth time in program history dating back to their first matchup on February 24, 1976 in Bethlehem, Pa., which the Mountaineers won by a score of 63-60. The two teams have met at least once in each decade since the inaugural matchup.

Lehigh has won the last three meetings with the Mountaineers, including the last matchup in Emmitsburg, Md. The last time the two teams got together resulted in a 95-67 victory for the Mountain Hawks at home on November 19, 2013, which is tied for the third most points ever scored by Lehigh in a single game. Then in their freshman seasons, Kayla Burton recorded six points and five assists in 21 minutes as a starter, while Kiernan McCloskey totaled three points and four rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Lehigh has only faced Mount St. Mary's twice on the road with a record of 1-1. The first road meeting resulted in a 95-48 victory for the Mountaineers on January 7, 1992, while the Mountain Hawks took home a 66-57 win on January 2, 2013.

Lehigh enters Tuesday's matchup holding a 41-18 all-time record against current Northeast Conference teams. Lehigh is perfect against both Robert Morris (4-0) and Bryant (2-0), and is only below .500 against Central Conn. State (1-2), with the last matchup between the two taking place during the 1990-91 season. Lehigh defeated Sacred Heart 68-62 last Saturday.

Freshman Gena Grundhoffer is tied for the second-best free throw percentage in the country among players with at least 20 attempts (90%/18-for-20). The Mountain Hawks enter Tuesday's game with a minus-2 rebounding margin, which ranks fifth in the Patriot League. Lehigh is currently second in the PL with 44 rebounds per game, but ranks last (10th/10) in rebounding defense, allowing 46 boards per game.

Entering the Sacred Heart game with a minus-7 rebounding margin for the season, Lehigh outrebounded the Pioneers 52-39.

Lehigh has a completely new look to its front court this year with the graduation of Kerry Kinek and Lexi Martins, the second and third leading career rebounders in program history. Martins, who graduated a year early and transferred to George Washington, ranked third in the nation last year with 13.6 rebounds per game. Departed seniors Elizabeth Sharlow (4.3 rpg) and Amina Affini (2.7 rpg) rounded out the team's top four rebounders from 2015-16. Overall, the Mountain Hawks lost over 83 percent of their rebounds and 91 percent of their blocks from last season.

Hedstrom dished out nine assists in Lehigh's Nov. 16 win over Delaware State, marking the most assists for a Lehigh player in a game since Sarah Williams' eight assists against Bucknell on January 29, 2014.

After averaging 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists in two games last week, freshman forward Gena Grundhoffer was been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, and the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Patriot League.
Grundhoffer is coming off a breakout game in Saturday's 68-62 win over Sacred Heart where she registered career-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. She previously scored 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting in Wednesday's win over Delaware State. Overall, she shot 50 percent (11-for-22) on the week and was 1-for-2 from three-point range.

FILLED TO THE RAFTERS
On Nov. 16, the Lehigh women's basketball program played host to Education Day against Delaware State in front of an announced crowd of 4,410. The number set a new Stabler Arena record for a women's basketball game, surpassing the previous benchmark of 4,078 which was set on Dec. 2, 2014 against Hampton.
