BOSTON - The Lehigh field hockey team hung tough against No. 14 Boston University through most of the first half, but the Terriers proved too much in the second, as they pulled away for a 5-0 win on Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks and Terriers were scoreless until 1:01 remaining in the first half, then Boston University went on to score four second-half goals to snap Lehigh's four-game winning streak.

"I thought we faced a phenomenal team and at times, we did some really nice things, but weren't able to focus on details that could have helped us win the game," said Lehigh head coach Caitlin Dallmeyer. "Our work rate was really high, perhaps the highest I've seen from this team all season, and our drive and passion was evident by the way we were making adjustments and pushing ourselves to keep up with a strong team."

Boston University finished the first half with an 11-0 edge in shots, but it wasn't until the 11th shot that the Terriers took the lead, finally beating freshman Paige Innarella at the 33:59 mark.

The Terriers extended their lead with goals in the 46th and 53rd minutes before scoring in the 59th and 63rd minutes to account for the 5-0 final.

Final shots were 24-1 in favor of Boston University while the Terriers held a 10-1 edge in penalty corners. Innarella made five saves before being replaced by junior Katie Morris, who stopped the only shot sent her way. Sophomore Kendra Sandhu recorded a defensive stop.

"In the end, we struggled in the second half to stick to our game plan and we gave them opportunities and unfortunately, they capitalized on four of them," said Dallmeyer. "Kendra had a really nice performance in the center back position. Jackie Renda's work rate was really high; she did a lot for us attacking up the right side. Gabby Tofig had one of her better performances because of her ability to execute a press and her work rate in stepping to the ball and causing turnovers."

Lehigh returns to action in 24 hours when it heads to UMass-Lowell for its first-ever matchup against the Riverhawks.

"We are looking to rebound quickly for our game tomorrow in hopes that our lessons learned today will translate well into a win tomorrow," said Dallmeyer.
