Forrest earns Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's soccer freshman Mark Forrest has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Forrest scored his first collegiate goal before assisting the game-winner in Lehigh's double-overtime 3-2 victory at Robert Morris Friday. The Douglasville, Pa. scored Lehigh's first goal of the game in the 30th minute when he made a nice move to get open on a Lehigh throw-in and took the ball just inside the left side of the 18-yard box and into the far corner. Forrest then made the cross that senior Jamie Luchini sent into goal just 25 seconds into the second overtime period to propel the Mountain Hawks to the 3-2 road win. Forrest's five points this season (one goal, three assists) is tied for second best on the team.
Luchini earned honorable mention recognition for Offensive Player of the Week after having a hand in all three Lehigh goals against Robert Morris, including the game winner in double overtime. Sophomore keeper Joe Bogan earned honorable mention status for Goalkeeper of the Week after securing ten saves to notch his third shutout of the season in a double-overtime scoreless draw against Saint Francis (Pa.) Sunday.
Forrest and the Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday when Lehigh hosts Holy Cross in the Patriot League opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from the Ulrich Sports Complex and free video will be available on the Patriot League Network.
