Mountain Hawks pick up strong 6-1 road win at Loyola

BALTIMORE – The Lehigh women's tennis team posted its third straight league win Wednesday as the Mountain Hawks defeated Loyola 6-1 at the McClure Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and added five singles wins to improve to 10-7 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League.
"This was a huge win for us against a very tough opponent," Lehigh head coach Wouter Hendrix said. "Every point was a battle out there today but in the end our conditioning paid off."
Doubles play began with Lehigh's No. 3 team of freshmen Kirstin Godau and Abby Duddy winning 8-4 over Emily Hughes and Haleigh Morgus. Lehigh clinched the doubles point at the No. 2 flight as senior Abby Farrell and sophomore Cassidy Cruz won 8-6 over Megan Hahn and Olivia Ott. The Mountain Hawks needed a 7-4 win in a tiebreak to give freshman Christina Auyeung and sophomore Jamie Campisi to sweep doubles with an 8-7 win at the top flight.
Godau opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Julie Clark at No. 5 while the Greyhounds picked up their only point as Amanda Lanciano beat Cruz in straight sets at the No. 2 flight.
Freshman Briana Maravich held off Morgus 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 singles before Farrell clinched the victory for Lehigh with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Ania Krawiek at No. 6 singles.
Jamie Campisi posted a three-set win over Hughes at the No. 3 flight while Auyeung closed the match by beating Hahn in a ten point tiebreak.
The Mountain Hawks will travel to West Point, N.Y. to face Army Saturday at noon, before closing out the regular season with a visit to rival Lafayette Monday afternoon.
