Lehigh blanks Colgate 7-0 for first Patriot League win

VERONA, N.Y. – The Lehigh women's tennis team posted its first Patriot League win of the season Saturday with a convincing 7-0 shutout of Colgate at Turning Stone Sportsplex. The Mountain Hawks swept all three doubles matches and six singles matches, winning the first five singles flights in straight sets.
With the win, Lehigh moves to 8-7 overall and 1-2 in the league, while Colgate falls to 5-11 overall and 1-3 in the league.
The Mountain Hawks began doubles play with wins at the top two flights, just dropping five combined games as freshman Christina Auyeung and sophomore Jamie Campisi beat Jennifer Ho and Katie Grant 8-2 at No. 1 and senior Abby Farrell and sophomore Cassidy Criz won 8-3 over Hannah Fleckenstein at the No. 2 flight. Lehigh made it a sweep of doubles as freshmen Kirstin Godau and Abby Duddy beat Kelly Klein and Kirstie Woodbury 7-4 in a tiebreak to win 8-7.
In singles play Campisi extended Lehigh's lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grant at No. 3 singles. Cruz downed Kaelin Brittin 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 flight before Auyeung clinched the win for the brown and white with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ho at the top flight.
Freshman Briana Maravich defeated Klein in straight sets at No. 4 singles and Godau won 6-2, 6-2 over Woodbury at No. 5.
With the match clinched Farrell played an eight-game pro set against Lindsey Madnick at No. 6 singles and won 8-4.
The Mountain Hawks will play their final home match of the season on Tuesday when they host Bucknell at 3 p.m.
