BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Coming off a River Cup victory over Lafayette, the Lehigh rowing team returns to action at the Knecht Cup this weekend. Racing will take place on Lake Mercer in West Windsor, New Jersey. The Mountain Hawks look for success on Saturday to advance to racing on Sunday. Lehigh returns to the Knecht for the first time since 2013.

The last time Lehigh competed in the Knecht Cup, four crews advanced to the finals, including a silver medal for the Men's Club Four. The Men's Freshmen Eight and Varsity Four advanced to the grand final while the Women's Freshmen Eight qualified for the petite final.

"This is a really tough regatta in the middle of our season where we will see a lot of out of league teams that will have different goals in terms of the regatta," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "Some will come to simply get race experience while others are coming for the medal stand. We have been focusing on the process more this year than really the outcome goals and it has worked for us in finding some great speed. We will look to be quick off the line and stay focused on making each stroke as effective as possible."

The Mountain Hawks won all but one race against Lafayette last weekend to win the River Cup for yet another season.

"The team has a lot more depth this year and I am seeing a lot of trust amongst the athletes because of the hard work that they've put in," said Conley. "Our freshmen have really stepped up this year and have filled gaps that needed filling and have made a huge impact."

Conley is excited to see how his squad competes this weekend.

"I am excited to see where the freshmen men finish as I think that they have a great opportunity after having seen them do well in racing the last two weeks," he said. "On the women's side, I am excited to see how aggressive we can be on the first race."

After this weekend, Lehigh returns to action next Saturday at the Kerr Cup.
