BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's lacrosse team will attempt to open Patriot League play for a second time on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks host Colgate at 1 p.m. The original league opener at Bucknell was postponed and has been rescheduled for Mar. 25. Lehigh is coming off a hard-fought 13-7 defeat at Jacksonville earlier this week.

This marks the second time in the last four years with Colgate as Lehigh's Patriot League opener. The Raiders won in 2012, 13-9. Due to the Mar. 6 postponement at Bucknell, the Mountain Hawks had a 10-day layoff between their home game against Fairfield and road contest at Jacksonville Tuesday. Lehigh got off to a slow start, falling behind 4-0, but the Mountain Hawks clawed back into the game. Lehigh scored seven of the next 12 goals to pull within 9-7 midway through the second half, but the Dolphins responded with the final four goals.

Senior Carli Suknoik led the Lehigh offense with three goals (all in the first half) while sophomore Allison LaBeau had a goal and two assists. Junior Kendall Garden led the team with five draw controls while freshman Kayleen Kelly tallied a team-high three caused turnovers. Senior defender Kelly Scott also enjoyed a strong game with two groundballs, two caused turnovers and her second-career goal.

The loss dropped Lehigh's record to 2-3, the same record as Saturday's opponent Colgate. The Raiders are coming off a triple overtime loss to Holy Cross last Saturday while their two wins have come against Siena and Columbia. Haley O'Hanlon leads the team in scoring with 13 points (10 goals, three assists) while Emily Peebles (10 goals) and Kallan Murray (four goals, six assists) each have 10 points apiece. Jenna Frost leads the team with eight caused turnovers and is second with 10 groundballs while Isabel Kreitler leads the way with 10 draw controls. Jennie Berglin has enjoyed a strong season between the pipes, owning a strong 8.28 GAA and .506 save percentage. Colgate and Lehigh are currently second and third in the Patriot League in goals against average at 8.28 and 8.40, respectively.

The Raiders lead the all-time series, 22-11 including wins in each of the past four seasons. Colgate won a 12-11 final last season, including the game-winning goal with just 17 seconds remaining. The Raiders won a 10-9 overtime final in 2013. Prior to Colgate's latest streak, the Mountain Hawks had won two straight and three of the previous five. The sides first met in 1981, a 6-5 Lehigh victory. Lehigh won eight of the first 13 meetings before Colgate responded with a 10-game winning streak from 1998-2006.

After Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will hit the road next Wednesday (Mar. 18) when they make the short trek to Easton to face archrival Lafayette. Opening draw is set for 7:30 p.m.
