
Mountain Hawks home for weekend matches versus Drexel, Saint Francis (Pa.)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After posting their first win of 2015 against Niagara last Saturday, the Lehigh women's tennis team will embark on a busy weekend, in which the Mountain Hawks will host Drexel and Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks will face Drexel on Saturday and Saint Francis (Pa.) on Sunday.
Lehigh lost by a single point in the season opener to Delaware, but was able to bounce back against Niagara with a 6-1 victory. Sophomore Jamie Campisi has been very strong thus far at the No. 2 singles flight, posting two victories in as many matches. Campisi has also won both of her doubles matches and has lived up to her high praise from coach Wouter Hendrix in the preseason.
Against Niagara, Lehigh was able to win five singles matches and two doubles matches on its way to victory. Sophomore Cassidy Cruz was able to get her first victory of the year at the No.1 singles slot. After dropping the first set, Cruz was able to come back strong by winning each of the next two sets. She lost just one game during the final two sets.
Freshman Briana Maravich is 2-0 in singles play and delivered the match-clinching win against the Purple Eagles.
Drexel has started off the season strong with a 3-0 record this spring. The Dragons have been dominant through three matches, as each win has been by a large margin. Drexel has defeated La Salle 7-0, St. Francis Brooklyn 7-0 and Morgan State 6-1. The Mountain Hawks will face a tough task this Saturday.
Saint Francis (Pa.) currently sits at 2-2, has won its last two matches after getting off to a disappointing start. The Red Flash will travel to Youngstown State on Friday before visiting the Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem on Sunday.
Lehigh hosted both schools last season with the Mountain Hawks falling 5-2 to Drexel and beating Saint Francis (Pa.) by the same 5-2 score.
Saturday's match with Drexel will begin at 11 a.m., while Sunday's match against Saint Francis (Pa.) begins at 2 p.m.
