Mountain Hawks top Fairleigh Dickinson 5-2 for second straight win

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team took advantage of a shorthanded Fairleigh Dickinson squad to pick up its second consecutive win as the Mountain Hawks downed the Knights 5-2 Saturday inside the Lewis Tennis Center. With only five healthy players, FDU could not field a third doubles team and conceded a point at No. 6 singles.
With the win, Lehigh improves to 3-2 on the young season.
Lehigh and Fairleigh Dickinson split the top two doubles flights with the Mountain Hawks claiming the doubles point thanks to the FDU forfeit at No. 3. Freshman Christina Auyeung and sophomore Jamie Campisi won 8-4 over Gisela Castany and Mariya Krachok at the top flight.
The Mountain Hawks added a second point from the Knights' forfeit at No. 6 singles. FDU got on the board as Shreya Pasricha beat sophomore Cassidy Cruz 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 flight, but Auyeung won her third straight singles match, downing Nicole Chis 6-4, 6-4 at the top flight.
Freshman Briana Maravich suffered her first singles loss of the season, bowing to Krachok in three sets but freshman Kirstin Godau clinched the match for the Mountain hawks with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Alex Bryant at No. 5 singles. Campisi added a three-set win at No. 3 singles to close out the match.
Lehigh will return to the courts on Sunday when the Mountain Hawks host Stony Brook at 10 a.m. inside the Lewis Tennis Center.
