The Rivalry: Lehigh vs. Lafayette

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Weather has cost the Lehigh tennis team three matches over the last two weeks but the Mountain Hawks will return to Patriot League play Tuesday when they host rival Lafayette in the annual rivalry match inside the Lewis Tennis Center. First serves are set for 3 p.m. as Lehigh looks for its 14th straight victory against its arch rival.

Lehigh's scheduled match at Bucknell on Monday was postponed to April 14 due to the threat of rain, the Mountain Hawks' fourth postponement in the last eight days. The Mountain Hawks had a Patriot League match at Loyola postponed twice while Monday's postponement against Bucknell was the second time Lehigh and Bucknell were forced to reschedule.

Lehigh comes in at 5-8 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League. Freshmen Cassidy Cruz and Jamie Campisi posted victories for the Mountain Hawks in their first league match, a 5-2 loss to Army on March 28.

Cruz continues to lead Lehigh with eight singles victories, while Campisi has added four wins since returning from injury in mid-March. Senior Jenai Bilimoria owns a 5-8 record at No. 1 singles and leads the Mountain Hawks with seven doubles wins. She will play No. 1 doubles alongside junior Abby Farrell.

Lafayette is 3-4 on the spring season and 1-3 in league matches. The Leopards own a league victory over Holy Cross and non-league wins over St. Peter's and La Salle. Lafayette has lost its last two matches including a 7-0 loss at Navy on Sunday.

Lehigh has won 16 of the 24 meetings against Lafayette since 1990 including the last 13. The Mountain Hawks have won the last two meetings by 7-0 scores.

Following the Lafayette match, Lehigh will visit Annapolis to battle Navy on Thursday before hosting Colgate Saturday in its home finale.
