BOSTON -- The Lehigh women's track and field team rounded out its indoor season with impressive performances at the ECAC Championships at Boston University Saturday and Sunday. The Mountain Hawks competed against the best of the best from Division I schools in the northeast in the meet. Following senior Brooke Astor's record-setting pentathlon win on Friday, the Mountain Hawks turned out many other successful performances.
"Between the two programs, we had a champion and four All-East people so that caps off an outstanding indoor season," said head coach Matt Utesch. "I'm very proud of both programs and this sets a great tone heading into the outdoor season."
Freshman Courtney Avery finished her impressive rookie campaign with a 1.68m leap in the high jump to finish tied for fourth place. Her finish earned her All-East honors.
Sophomore Elizabeth Weiler placed 21st in the 5000 meter run prelims with a new personal-best clip of 17:21.60. Junior Ingrid Simon ran the 1000 meter race in 2:59.60 to finish 24th in the event prelims.
Simon joined Victoria Mullane, Amanda Ruschel and Marissa Karl in the 4x800 meter relay as the group placed 14th in the prelims with a mark of 9:22.64.
The Mountain Hawks will now have two weeks off competition before opening the outdoor season at the Philadelphia Classic on March 22.
