BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team will continue its home stand with two matches this weekend inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks will host Villanova Saturday at 2 p.m. before welcoming Niagara Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Mountain Hawks dropped to 2-6 on the season after suffering a 6-1 loss to Temple Tuesday in their first match following a two-week layoff.

Freshman Cassidy Cruz and senior Taylor Hampshire opened the match against Temple with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, but Temple took the next two doubles rounds to earn the point.  Cruz earned Lehigh's only point of the match with a victory at No. 2 singles.

Junior Abby Farrell, who usually plays at No .1 doubles and No. 2 singles, was out of the lineup against the Owls but is expected back this weekend.  Farrell and Cruz lead the Mountain Hawks with four singles wins apiece, while Cruz and senior Jenai Bilimoria top the team with four doubles victories.

The Wildcats are 2-4 on the season and are coming off a 2-1 spring break road trip in California. On the trip, Villanova defeated Whittier 7-2 and edged Vanguard 5-4. Villanova senior Mikelle Mancini, who plays at No. 1 singles, won all three of her matches on the road trip and improved her overall season record to 6-2.

Niagara is 6-4 on the season. The Purple Eagles went 3-2 in their spring break trip to Florida and will play Rider on Friday before visiting Lehigh on Sunday.

The Niagara match will conclude Lehigh's ten-match season-opening home stand. The Mountain Hawks will visit Saint Joseph's on Sunday March 23 for their first road match of the season.
