BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team continues its home stand Saturday as the Mountain Hawks host Stony Brook in their final match before Spring Break. The Mountain Hawks will look to build upon last Sunday's 7-0 shutout of Mount St. Mary's and head into their spring break layoff on a positive note.
Lehigh dominated the Mountaineers last Sunday inside the Lewis Tennis Center, sweeping the doubles matches and winning all six singles matches in straight sets to improve to 2-4 on the season. Junior Abby Farrell delivered the clinching point with a straight set victory at No. 2 singles.
Farrell leads the Mountain Hawks with a 4-2 singles record at the No. 2 flight and is 2-4 in doubles. Senior Jenai Bilimoria and freshman Cassidy Cruz lead Lehigh with 3-3 doubles records. Farrell and Bilimoria were recently reunited as Lehigh's top doubles team, while Cruz has been playing alongside senior Taylor Hampshire at the No. 2 flight.
Stony Brook enters this weekend's action at 1-2. The Seawolves will meet Temple on Friday before battling Lehigh Saturday morning. Stony Brook won its season opener against UConn but has since dropped matches to Army and most recently, Brown.
Lehigh and Stony Brook have met each of the last two seasons with the Seawolves winning both meetings by 7-0 scores.
Saturday's match is set for a 10 a.m. start from the Lewis Tennis Center.
After Saturday's match, Lehigh will next be in action on March 11 when the Mountain Hawks host Temple at 4 p.m.
