Lehigh earns NSCAA Team Academic award for fifth straight season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the fifth season in a row, the Lehigh men's soccer team was recognized for its continued success in the classroom as the Mountain Hawks garnered the 2013-14 NSCAA Team Academic Award, as announced by the NSCAA on Monday. Lehigh was one of only 279 men's teams across Division I, II and III honored for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Lehigh finished with a strong 3.13 cumulative GPA during the last academic school year.
Junior Jamie Luchini earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League squad for the second straight season on Nov. 12. The midfielder has been Lehigh's leading scorer in each of the past two seasons and holds an impressive 3.68 GPA as a finance major.
The Mountain Hawks were predicted to finish tenth in the Patriot League, but finished league play with a 10-8-1 overall mark and 5-3-1 record as Lehigh secured its first ten-win season since 2006. The Mountain Hawks earned the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and fell to eventual champion Bucknell. After finishing the 2013 season ranked 187th in the final NCAA men's soccer RPI, Lehigh concluded action this season ranked 78th for an outstanding jump of 109 spaces.
