Tuvesson earns third Patriot League Rookie of the Week award

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's soccer freshman Doyle Tuvesson has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced Monday.
Tuvesson tallied three points in Lehigh's 2-0 week in which the Mountain Hawks captured a 4-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson Tuesday before topping Army 2-1 Saturday. The rookie assisted the game-winning goal in the 81st minute against Army as he made a pristine pass to junior Jamie Luchini who put Lehigh up 2-1. Tuvesson tallied a team-high six shots, three of which were on goal, against an Army defense that went into the game as one of the league's stingiest defenses. The Kennett Square, Pa. native also scored a goal in the 78th minute against Fairleigh Dickinson that sparked an offensive outburst for the Mountain Hawks as Lehigh tallied two more goals in the next nine minutes. Tuvesson is named Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. He joins current junior Austin Decker as the only two Mountain Hawks to win the award three times in their rookie season. Decker accomplished the feat in 2009.
Luchini received honorable mention recognition for the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after tallying five points in Lehigh's 2-0 week including scoring the game-winning goal in the Mountain Hawks' big 2-1 win over Army. Senior Brian Suchoski garnered honorable mention for the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after scoring Lehigh's first goal in the 2-1 win over Army and anchoring a Lehigh defense that only allowed nine shots in the two wins.
Lehigh holds down fourth place in the Patriot League standings with nine points and a 3-3 league record that is part of an 8-7 overall mark.
Tuvesson and the Mountain Hawks return to action Wednesday against Navy in the final regular-season home game at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and free video will be available on the Patriot League Network.
