Moyar tabbed as Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh freshman Jacob Moyar has been named Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday. Moyar won a pair of individual events to help lead the Mountain Hawks past Loyola 209-53 on Saturday as Lehigh rolled to its fifth win of the dual season.
Moyar's Saturday began by leading a Mountain Hawk sweep of the top three places in the 200 yard butterfly with a winning time of 1:52.24, nearly four seconds faster than runner-up sophomore Jake Hassel. The Centreville, Virginia native later led a top three Lehigh sweep in the 200 yard individual medley, winning with a time of 1:57.25. Moyar finished the day by swimming the third leg on the B team in the 800 yard free relay and posted a split of 1:45.30 as his team finished second.
Lehigh's winning 800 free relay team of juniors Danny Bennett, Owen Dunbar, Eric Sherwood and freshman Justin White, set a new Jacobs Pool record with a time of 6:58.97.
Moyar has now won two individual events in each of Lehigh's last three dual meets. He is the first member of the Lehigh swimming and diving team, male or female, to earn a Patriot League weekly award this season.
The Mountain Hawks will host their final meet of the 2013-14 season on Saturday when Patriot League rival Bucknell visits Jacobs Pool. Diving action begins at 10 a.m. with swimming events to follow at 1 p.m.
