Koski sets coaching staff for upcoming season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head men's soccer coach Dean Koski has announced the promotion of Ryan Hess to interim assistant coach, and the addition of former Georgetown assistant coach Michael Montross to the coaching staff. The pair will bring a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the Mountain Hawks.
Hess spent his first two years at Lehigh in the part-time assistant coach position. He will now fill the vacated spot left by former associate head coach Michael Benn, who has recently been named the head coach at West Chester. Formerly, Hess has coached at his alma mater Moravian as well as Muhlenberg College. He was a four-year starter and three-time captain at Moravian under current Lehigh women's soccer coach Eric Lambinus.
"Ryan has a terrific understanding of the game for such a young coach and will continue to bring his energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of Patriot League competition in ways that will benefit our program," said Koski. "He has learned a great deal, under Mike Benn's mentorship, about the recruiting landscape for Division I prospects, and I have no doubt that he will embrace this responsibility with vigor."
Montross comes to the Mountain Hawks from an assistant position at Georgetown, under head coach Brian Wiese. Montross helped the Hoyas to an extremely successful 2012 season, in which they were the third overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas' 19 wins were the most in program history. In his tenure with the Hoyas he coached two All-Americans, seven regional All-Americans as well as the College Cup Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
Before Georgetown, Montross was a four-year letter winner and senior captain at Dickinson College. He led the team to its first two conference and NCAA Tournament appearances in 2007 and 2008.
"Mike is highly motivated to learn and grow in this profession and is very familiar with Lehigh having researched and visited our school when he was a high school soccer prospect," said Koski. "We are excited to welcome Mike to the Lehigh men's soccer family."
