Mountain Hawks host Raiders on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team will host Patriot League opponent Colgate Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Both teams aim to rebound from mid-week league losses on Wednesday night.
Former Lehigh coach Tom Fleck will be honored at halftime of the contest. Fleck was the head coach of the men's soccer program from 1969-1977 and compiled a career record of 57-52-2. After his time at Lehigh, Fleck went on to become one of the most highly respected figures in United State soccer. He sadly passed away in December 2011. On Saturday, a number of Fleck's former players will join together to dedicate a plaque in his honor that will be hung at the entrance of the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Mountain Hawks are coming off a tough 2-1 loss at Navy on Wednesday night. After trailing 1-0 for the majority of the game, Lehigh was able to score an equalizer in the 84th minute before an own goal less than a minute later gave Navy a 2-1 win. Sophomore Jamie Luchini netted Lehigh's goal in the 84th minute, with freshmen Gianfranco Giammatteo and Justin Worley picking up assists. With the win, Navy took sole possession of first place in the Patriot League and recorded its nation-leading tenth straight victory.
Four different Mountain Hawks have scored goals this season, while Giammatteo and senior Ben Wysocki lead the team with three points apiece. Freshman keeper Jacob Gottwald has accumulated a .696 save percentage through nine contests. The Mountain Hawks will look to end on a high note with only two games remaining this season. Lehigh sits at 2-12-1 overall and 1-6 in Patriot League play.
Colgate also fell in Patriot League play on Wednesday night in a 3-0 home loss to Boston University. Five Raiders have scored two goals each this season, while Zach Pagani and Ethan Kutler each hold a team-leading five points. Three different goalkeepers have seen action in Colgate's net, but Ricky Brown has gotten the most starts and has tallied a 1.52 goals against average.
The Raiders secured a 5-0 victory in last season's meeting, and hold a 13-9-6 all-time series advantage. The Mountain Hawks will be searching for their first win against Colgate since Sept. 26, 2009 when Lehigh won 2-1 in overtime.
Following Saturday's contest, Lehigh returns to action at home next Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Complex against Holy Cross. The game will be the final match of the 2013 season and will serve as Senior Day for the Mountain Hawks. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and the contest will be aired live on the Patriot League Network.
