Mountain Hawks place 13 on swimming and diving academic honor roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Thirteen members of the Lehigh women's swimming and diving program were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll announced Wednesday. The league announced the Academic Honor Roll lists for all seven of its winter/spring sports Wednesday as part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX.
The Mountain Hawks placed fifth at the Patriot League Championships in February after a 4-7 dual meet season. It was a strong season for the Brown and White as 13 student-athletes earned a grade point average of 3.20 or better in the spring semester. To be eligible for the honor roll, the athlete must have a 3.20 GPA or higher during the academic semester which coincides with his or her sport.
Leading the way for Lehigh were three seniors who posted perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring: Lauren Armstrong, Alyssa Siano and Paola Simon. The Mountain Hawk trio comprised three of 13 Patriot League women's swimmers and divers who were named to the honor roll. Armstrong earned her degree in Marketing last month, while Siano and Simon majored in Business Information Systems and Finance respectively.Right on the heels of the 4.0 trio was junior diver Daniela Sonderegger, who posted a 3.98 GPA as a political science major. Sonderegger was named to the Academic All-Patriot League team back in February.
A total of 106 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll, led by Navy's Laura Gorinski, who was voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight year.
