Record three Mountain Hawks to play in North-South Game Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A school-record three Lehigh men's lacrosse seniors will suit up for the South on Friday in the 71st annual USILA/LaxWorld Division I-II Senior North-South Game at Harvard Stadium in Boston. Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney, along with Adam Johnston, were all selected following tremendous collegiate careers. Opening faceoff is set for 5:30 p.m. after the Division III game at 3:00.
The trio will be led by a familiar face on the sidelines as Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese is teaming with Towson head man Shawn Nadelen as co-coaches for the South. Johnston and the Lao-Gosneys will wear their usual numbers on Friday - 17, 11 and 19, respectively. Tickets for the game are only five dollars and can be purchased at the stadium.
Lehigh's three members are tied with Bucknell and Penn for the most-represented school on the South. The Patriot League is well represented on the field, and the sidelines, as Army's Joe Alberici will serve as North head coach and Colgate's Mike Murphy an assistant. In total, 11 Patriot Leaguers will play in the game - seven on the South (three from Lehigh, three from Bucknell and one from Navy) and four on the North (three from Army and one from Colgate).
The Mountain Hawks have placed multiple players in the game for a second straight season after 14 years between 1997 and 2011 - the last two times multiple Lehigh players were picked. Last year, Jonathan Stumpf scored the eventual game-winning goal for the South while Will Scudder won three faceoffs in a 15-11 win.
Roman enjoyed his strongest season in 2012, posting a career-high 26 points (20 goals, six assists) to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors. He was also named an Academic All-Patriot League honoree for a second straight year. Lao-Gosney finished his career with a strong performance against Maryland in the NCAA Tournament, scoring a goal and adding an assist against one of the nation's stingiest defenses.
Meanwhile, Cameron had 13 goals and nine assists, earning Second Team All-League for a second time. He was remarkably consistent throughout the year, posting a point in seven straight games and one stretch of 13-of-14. Cameron wraps up his career with 111 points behind 77 goals and 34 assists. He posted 24, 30 and 35 points in his first three seasons, respectively.
Johnston finished with 20 goals for a third straight year, posting 22 along with three assists. After 15 goals as a freshman, he scored 27 his sophomore and junior years, wrapping up his career with 91 goals (and 13 assists). Lethal on man-up, Johnston posted 34 career extra man goals including seven this year to tie for the team lead. He was a big reason why Lehigh still owns the nation's top man-up offense (54.2 percent). The Street, Md. native had a monster game in the regular season finale at Lafayette, posting a career-high seven points, while also scoring a memorable second-half goal in the NCAA Tournament vs. Maryland.
