Mountain Hawks continue to rise in national polls

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following Saturday's dominant 16-6 win over Lafayette, the Lehigh men's lacrosse team has risen to #8 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and #9 in the USILA Coaches Poll, released Monday. All four of the teams in this weekend's Patriot League Tournament have cracked the media poll with Colgate standing 10th, Bucknell 18th and Army 19th.
Senior Kevin Donovan Jr. and sophomore Ty Souders were also recognized Monday as honorable mention honorees on the Patriot League weekly honor roll. Donovan posted a career-high six points via five goals and an assist while Souders scooped a career-high five groundballs as he continues to lead one of the nation's top defenses.
Lehigh stands at 12-2 on the season, winners of 11 of its last 12 games. The 12 victories have tied a school record while five Patriot League wins set a new program mark. The squad also came in eighth in Quint Kessenich's Top 20 and analysis while coming in fifth in SNY's weekly power rankings. Mountain Hawks' opponents impressed over the weekend as North Carolina defeated #4 Virginia to advance to the ACC Championship Game, Yale earned an overtime win over #19 Bryant and Navy topped #6 Johns Hopkins, among others.
The #2 seed Mountain Hawks now look ahead to a Patriot League Semifinal tilt vs. third-seeded and #19 nationally-ranked Army on Friday at 8 p.m. Should they win, they'd advance to the Championship Game which is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. The entire tournament will be hosted by Colgate, with all three games aired live on CBS Sports Network.
