BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a strong year in the classroom, the Lehigh men's soccer team was recognized for its stellar academic performance with a 2011-2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic Award, as announced earlier this month. The Mountain Hawks are one of just 220 men's teams across Division I, II and III honored for posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Lehigh finished the last academic year with an impressive 3.16 cumulative GPA and earned NSCAA honors for a third-consecutive year. Both the men's and women's teams earned the award, making Lehigh one of just 149 schools in the country to have both its men's and women's teams honored.
The Mountain Hawks finished the 2012 season 4-12-1 and nearly advanced to the Patriot League Tournament after played to a 2-2 draw with Army in the final game of the season. A win would have sent the squad to the Patriot League playoffs. Sophomore defender Ali Famili earned first team All-Patriot League honors following a strong year that saw him score a goal and start 15 games to lead the Mountain Hawks' defense.
